New Report Shows Need for Change: Access Denied in Oregon
A new report from the Partnership for Safety and Justice, "Access Denied in Oregon," shows that people with past felony convictions in Oregon aren't getting the help they need to successfully re-enter society -- and that means they're more likely to go back to prison.
Report author David Rogers says spending more now to help former offenders would save taxpayers a lot down the road.
"We spend far more tax payer dollars on prison construction than on creating a system that prepares people to succeed once they're released. The sad reality is that Oregon could do a much better job to break the cycle of recidivism and crime."
